Roberta Boyack
My background is in advertising copywriting. After 30 years of working for numerous department stores and other well known retailers, I have probably written at one time or another about everything that can be sold in a store, from diamond jewelry to dog food to dictionaries. Not the smallest benefit I received from this career was the "insider" knowledge I gained from the merchants on how to shop, judge product quality and spot a real deal (not the pseudo bargains you see in the ads).
On Suite101 I'm sharing this knowledge, and also -- just for fun -- how to live stylishly without buying retail at all. It's the expertise I've gained from decades of pursuing extracurricular hobbies and interests such as home decorating, gardening and cooking on a budget.
